Dear Friends,
We are delighted to announce the inaugural Jovita Fuentes & Jose Contreras Music Institute, to be held at the University of San Agustin, Iloilo City, from August 20-24, 2019. The aim of this piano and song workshop is to create a link between the performance practices of German Lied and Filipino Kundiman while celebrating the legacies of Jovita Fuentes (1895-1978) and Jose Contreras (1937-1995), two Hiligaynon artists from Roxas City, Capiz. We will explore solo piano repertoire as well. We are proud to present a Grammy Award winner, Canadian baritone Kevin Mcmillan. He will be teaching masterclasses and will perform Schubert's monumental song cycle Winterreise. We are also excited to have critically-acclaimed Filipino soprano Camille Lopez Molina who will perform Schumann and Kasilag songs. Additionally, we welcome a special guest artist, Oliver Salonga, who will be giving a solo recital of works by Beethoven, Liszt, Barber and Ravel. This workshop is open to all music enthusiasts and conservatory students alike. Come and be a part of our series of evening concerts, daily masterclasses, and lectures. For more info, click here. Warmest regards to all! CLEMENT B. ACEVEDO Artistic Director |
